Dr. Lei Xiaomeng Joins the Pull of Experts of the AST Consortium to Tackle Energy and Sustainability Challenges

The AST Consortium continues to attract renowned experts and professionals from around the world to address the pressing challenges of energy and sustainability. Dr. Lei Xiaomeng, a chief expert of the China Electricity Council (CEC), has recently joined the pull of experts of the AST Consortium as an invited scholar. With his extensive experience and expertise in the power industry, Dr. Xiaomeng's involvement holds great promise for advancing collaborative efforts within the consortium. Furthermore, the growing collaborations between the AST Consortium and Chinese research and educational institutions pave the way for exciting possibilities in expanding cooperation, particularly with the China Electricity Council.
As a chief expert of the China Electricity Council, Dr. Xiaomeng has played a significant role in regional international power interconnection. His contributions include the establishment of the Northeast Regional Power Interconnection and Cooperation (NEARPIC) Forum, where he serves as a member of the steering committee representing the CEC. Prior to his role at the CEC, Dr. Xiaomeng worked as a vice chief engineer at China Yangtz Power Co. Ltd (CYPC) and held positions in the National Power Dispatching Center in the State Grid Corporation of China. He has also been involved in various working groups, both domestically and internationally, focusing on power system operation, control, and trading.
Dr. Xiaomeng's upcoming visit to Tashkent, as part of his participation in the AST Consortium International Conference on Energy Systems, Materials and Technology (ICESMT 2023), presents a valuable opportunity for him to gain insights into the burgeoning development of energy industries in Central Asian countries. By connecting with professionals in the region, he can foster knowledge exchange, strengthen collaborations, and explore potential avenues for cooperation. This visit not only allows Dr. Xiaomeng to broaden his understanding of the regional energy landscape but also presents a chance for Central Asian professionals to benefit from his expertise and experiences in the power industry.

The AST Consortium's growing collaborations with Chinese research and educational institutions provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation with the China Electricity Council. The CEC, established in 1988, is a non-profit national trade association comprised of China's power enterprises and institutions. With a focus on serving the enterprises, the industry, the government, and society, the CEC is committed to shaping a secure and sustainable energy future for China.
Dr. Salikh Tashpulatov, AST Consortium Chairperson, notes: "The AST Consortium, with its mission aligned with the goals of the CEC. Both organizations can collaborate on research initiatives focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and smart energy systems. This cooperation can leverage the expertise and resources of both parties to tackle complex energy challenges.Through workshops, seminars, and training programs, the AST Consortium and the CEC can facilitate the exchange of best practices, technical expertise, and innovative solutions in the power industry. This knowledge sharing can enhance the capabilities of professionals in both organizations and contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector. By collaborating on policy development, the AST Consortium and the CEC can jointly address regulatory and policy challenges in the power industry. Through advocacy efforts, both organizations can work together to promote sustainable energy practices, encourage clean energy transitions, and contribute to global energy security."
Dr. Lei Xiaomeng's affiliation with the China Electricity Council highlights the expertise and knowledge base available within the organization. By developing collaboration with other prominent Chinese experts, the AST Consortium intends to further expand its network and expertise. Areas of potential cooperation may include energy storage technologies, renewable energy deployment, grid integration of electric vehicles, power system optimization, and more. The participation of these experts in the consortium's activities, such as conferences, workshops, and research projects, can enrich the discussions and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for energy and sustainability challenges.

The addition of Dr. Lei Xiaomeng, a chief expert of the China Electricity Council, to the AST Consortium brings immense value and opportunities for collaboration. His extensive experience in the power industry and his role in regional international power interconnection make him a valuable asset to the consortium's efforts in tackling energy and sustainability challenges. Furthermore, Dr. Xiaomeng's visit to Tashkent presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections with Central Asian professionals and foster knowledge exchange.
The growing collaborations between the AST Consortium and Chinese research and educational institutions, including the China Electricity Council, lay the foundation for expanding cooperation. Joint research projects, knowledge sharing programs, and policy development and advocacy efforts can enhance the capabilities of both organizations and contribute to a secure and sustainable energy future. By also collaborating with other prominent Chinese experts, the AST Consortium can tap into their expertise and further enrich its network and knowledge base. With Dr. Lei Xiaomeng's involvement and the potential for expanded collaboration, the AST Consortium is well-positioned to make significant contributions in addressing the pressing challenges of energy and sustainability on a global scale.
